I like the new White House communications director, Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci. It’s not just because he favors gun control and is against building a wall on our southern border, positions he now officially renounces. I like him because he is personable and entertaining, but also because he is such an outrageous liar. That is, of course, a requirement for his new job, but he tosses off those whoppers with no sweat at all. You should check out his interview on CNN, it’s great theater. Right at the end of that interview, he said he thinks the press briefings should be televised. The thought struck me that our president may have prohibited the live video feeds because he doesn’t think Sarah Huckabee Sanders presents a favorable image. He is all about image. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but it seems a likely explanation.
In any case, trying to control White House communications has to be the most difficult job in the world, I have to give Sean Spicer credit for hanging in as long as he did. I wish him luck in his next endeavor. Maybe he can get a gig on Saturday Night Live, contra Melissa McCarthy. I’d pay to see that.
